- It is the author’s responsibility to follow the Abstract Guidelines and instructions.
- The author of the selected abstracts should submit the PDF poster by April 27, 2022.
- It is a requirement for the author or co-author(s), to present in person their research at the assigned date May 4, 2022.

Abstract Guidelines and instructions
- Abstracts should be submitted in Spanish or English and will be accepted by electronic submission only.
- No references, tables, or graphics should be included in the abstract.
- No changes can be made after the abstract is submitted.
The abstract should include:

- Introduction: A brief description of the significance of the research presented. Please include the study’s aim/goal, the research questions, and the hypothesis, if applicable.
- Methods: Brief description of the research study design, procedures, statistical analysis, strategies, and/or activities.
- Results: Summary of the preliminary or final results obtained. It is not satisfactory to indicate: “The results will be presented.”
- Conclusion: A statement about the findings reached and future directions.

- The abstract’s title should contain a maximum of 150 characters, including spaces.
- The length of the abstract should not exceed 250 words, excluding title, authors, affiliations, IRB/IACUC, and acknowledgments.
IMPORTANT: Any text longer than the specified number of characters will be truncated. Write the following sentence if appropriate: “Approved by IRB or IACUC.” (Make sure to include the protocol number(s) of approval in the IRB/IACUC box in the electronic abstract submission).
Evaluation
Abstracts will be evaluated by at least two reviewers including clinician, basic, behavioral, social, and translational researchers from local and national institutions. Each reviewer will send his/her recommendations to the Research Abstract Committee. The primary criterion of evaluation will be the quality of the research, as reflected in the abstract. Evaluations will be made according to the following criteria:
- Significance: Research study shows the importance in scientific knowledge or clinical practice approaches.
- Approach: The design, methods, and analyses are adequately developed, integrated, and well-reasoned research study objectives are clearly stated.
- Innovation: Is the research study original and innovative? Does the project develop or employ novel concepts, approaches or methodologies, tools, or technologies in the area studied?
Notification
This year we will accept 30 posters to be presented at the face-to-face conference. The authors will be notified, via email, of the status of their abstracts no later than April 5, 2022. The author of the selected abstracts should submit the PDF poster by April 27, 2022. It is a requirement for the author or co-author(s), to present in person their research at the assigned date (May 4, 2022).
