PROJECT TITLE:

HIV and COVID in Puerto Rico Study

As a Public Health Practitioner and a Social-Community Psychologist I am interested in understanding how social determinants of health influence people’s health and well-being. For the past 10 years, I have had the opportunity to work with vulnerable populations and communities. My research focuses on understanding and eliminating the health inequities that influence the health of frequently marginalized populations, specifically the Latino communities in the United States and Puerto Rico. I have worked in several Puerto Rico-based research projects that work to achieve social justice and health equity by understanding and addressing the vulnerabilities associated with structural social determinants of health and their impact on the Latino population’s health. Currently, I am leading a project aimed at developing a culturally appropriate and evidence-based policy intervention to increase PrEP Uptake among SMM Latino men in Puerto Rico
