Using big data to promote evidence-based public policy on health care for substance use disorders of older adults Hispanics

Dr. Santiago has worked on various clinical studies focusing on developing culturally relevant and evidence-based treatment optimizations for underserved and vulnerable population groups in Puerto Rico. She has ongoing collaborations with community-based clinics in Puerto Rico, that provide care to underserved patients in Puerto Rico. She also initiated her translational research career focusing on describing for the first time the metabolism of buprenorphine in opioid use disorder patients in PR and elucidating the need for optimizing the current standardized dosing approach towards Puertoricans with opioid use disorder.
