Cesia M. Negrón Losada

The Role of “Brigadas Salubristas” in the Community Response to Disasters and Public Health Emergencies

Cesia Negrón Losada was born in 1997 in Cuba but spent most of her childhood in Guayama, Puerto Rico. From a young age, she showed a strong interest in science and pursued this passion throughout her academic career. After graduating from high school at CROEM in 2014, Cesia earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez (UPRM). During her undergraduate studies, she participated in various research projects and was involved in community service through the Brigadas Salubristas program as well as Puerto Rico Pre-dental Association. Cesia’s passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in dentistry. She is currently in her fourth year of training at the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine (UPR RCM). She has demonstrated a strong commitment to her studies and to community work. In recognition of her academic achievements and dedication to dentistry, Cesia was recently accepted into a General Practice Residency (GPR) program at New York Medical College. This program will provide her with valuable experience and training to become a skilled dentist with a public health focus.
