Dr. Yamixa Delgado Selected for a Fellowship Award in Translational Sciences and Data Research
Congratulations to Dr. Yamixa Delgado, for being selected to receive the Fellowship Award offered by AIM-AHEAD and NCATS! This competitive Fellowship is a collaborative program between the AIM-AHEAD consortium (Data Science Training Core and Communications Hub) and NCATS (National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences-NIH).
This Fellowship is an exciting and unique opportunity for Dr. Delgado to have access to NCATS N3C Data Enclave, which now represents over 19.6M people across all 50 states (with DC and Puerto Rico), 7.8M COVID-19-positive patients, 78 medical centers, and over 12.5 billion lab results. Dr. Delgado will be able to work on developing a research question and hypothesis and choose from various available datasets within the N3C Data Enclave to study the research question, focusing on addressing disparities and minority health in behavioral health, cardiometabolic health, and cancer.
In the long term, she envisions applying this knowledge to advance cancer research by integrating clinical and genomic data. This training will empower Dr. Delgado to contribute significantly to interdisciplinary translational research, particularly benefiting underrepresented communities in Puerto Rico. This experience will also dramatically advance the multidisciplinary research work at Delgado’s Drug Design & Delivery Lab (4D Lab) at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine.
Congratulations to Dr. Delgado, and we wish her continued success.
