A comprehensive online course in grant development for new and early-stage investigators
Enrollment Eligibility:
- Be an early- to mid-career investigator
- Have received limited extramural funding within the previous 10 years of their career
- Has a research idea/project that reflects a transdisciplinary/ translational approach
- Has a terminal degree in their field with at least one degree in a health-related or basic science discipline
- Has an identified mentor who will work with the investigator in the development of their research concept
- Submits a complete application by the submission date
Description
- This new course uses distance learning, leveraging the Blackboard platform, includes didactic and experiential learning activities and personalized individual assistance to guide the investigator in the preparation of a R-level grant application.
- Researchers will develop skills for developing clear, effective, and fundable grants, including the key components of NIH and NSF proposals.
- Participants will proceed through the course at their own pace, but with a maximum time of 20 weeks for course completion.
- At completion of the course, participants will have constructed the major components of a grant proposal for submission to NIH or another funding source.
