Together with Dr. Carlos Luciano as contact PI, Dr. Morou will lead the Alliance moving forward to our next chapter. We are grateful to our departing PI, Dr. Marcia Cruz-Correa for her many years with this program and her commitment to research as she will continue her support to the Alliance as part of the Internal Advisory Committee.
Dr. Morou is a dentist, with a two-year specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry, and one-year training in Advanced Education General Dentistry, and a Doctoral training (PhD) in Microbiology/Immunology. She acquired formal training in Patient-Oriented research (through a K23 career development award from NIH/NIDCR), including epidemiology, statistics, and responsible conduct of research. Dr. Morou also has extensive experience in successful grant writing and proposal submission; as a PD/PI in NIH-funded projects, including a K-award, two R21s and an R01 grant, as well as corresponding supplements and competitive renewals. She has experience as a co-investigator in collaborative projects, including a T32 with the University of Rochester, as well as experience in written and verbal scientific communications.
Dr. Morou research career has been supported by and collaborated with the Alliance and its predecessors (CRC, PRCTRC) for the past 20 years. We are very happy and proud to welcome her as one of our PIs.
