On May 7th the Hispanic Alliance for Clinical and Translational Research hosted its 14th Scientific Day at the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan Puerto Rico. An event that showcased research in advancements in health through implementation science. Dr. Ileana Rodriguez, researcher, pharmacy professor, and GROW PR Network member presented findings on a collaborative project titled “Incorporating Medication Therapy Management (MTM) in Pharmacogenomic Services into an Interdisciplinary Rural Health Program”.
In collaboration with Dr. José O. Rodriguez from Hospital General Castañer, this innovative project is the exemplification of translational research in action. One of the aims of the project is to improve medication outcomes through pharmacogenomics and medication management therapy in rural Puerto Rican communities.
This pioneering effort highlights community-centered approaches, interdisciplinary collaborations, and the empowerment of local providers to bring MTM best practices to frontline clinicians in resource-restricted areas.
Other GROW PR members and collaborators were present showcasing their work in the poster sessions, Dr. Edna Acosta, Community Outreach Core Lead, Dr. Soreli Santana, Mr. José González, Mrs. Nicole Mercado, Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) team from the Department of Health, and Mr. Fabián Ramirez, GME Coordinator at Hospital Episcopal San Lucas.
