The ALS Association has awarded $4.9 million to 13 ALS clinical trial sites, including Dr. Valerie Wojna from the UPR-Medical Sciences Campus, who received an infrastructure grant of $396,585. The inaugural Trial Capacity Awards aim to increase the number and diversity of people with ALS who can participate in clinical trials, as well as improve the efficiency and pace of the studies. The grants will help eliminate specific barriers, such as financial obstacles, outreach to non-English-speaking communities, and increase the number of trained research staff. The program aims to accelerate the testing of ALS therapies through clinical trials and ultimately find a cure for this devastating disease.
