Dr. Sherily Pereira has been recognized by the American Academy of Nursing as one of the 250 distinguished nurses to be inducted into the 2022 Class of Fellows. The inductees will be recognized for their significant contributions to health and health care at the Academy’s annual Health Policy Conference, which will take place on October 27-29, 2022, in Washington, DC.
Through a competitive and rigorous application process, the 2022 Fellows were selected based on their contributions to advancing the public’s health. Induction into the Academy is a significant milestone in which past and current accomplishments are honored by their colleagues within and outside the profession. The newest Fellows represent 35 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and 17 countries.
Dr. Pereira is also a Mentee within the Mentor-Mentee program sponsored by the Professional Development Core (PDC) of the Alliance. The Mentor-Mentee Teams’ Program is designed to help new investigators develop partnerships, skills, and tools to successfully obtain external funding to support their goal of performing independent research. Dr. Pereira has stated that the Mentor-Mentee program played a significant role in helping her to achieve some of the goals which are now recognized by the American Academy of Nursing.
The American Academy of Nursing (AAN) is a professional organization that generates, synthesizes, and disseminates nursing knowledge to contribute to health policy and practice for the benefit of the public and the nursing profession.
