Successful completion of cohort 2022 – 2023
The Scientific Communication in Clinical and Translational Research certificate is organized annually by the Professional Development Core (PDC) of the Hispanic Alliance of Clinical and Translational Research (The Alliance) and partially supported by the Hispanics-In-Research Capability: SoHP & SoM Partnership (HiREC). It was offered mainly online through synchronic sessions and self-directed learning by Dr. Estela S. Estapé, Professor and Senior Advisor for the post-doctoral Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research, University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus (UPR-MSC), and Director of the Research Center, San Juan Bautista School of Medicine.
The course is open to early- to mid-career investigators with a doctoral degree in basic sciences, clinical, or other health-related fields interested in receiving coaching in scientific writing to disseminate their research projects’ results in peer-reviewed journals. The objectives are to: 1) understand the importance of authorship, acknowledgments, and conflict of interest, 2) learn how to review a manuscript, and 3) complete a scientific manuscript ready for submission to a peer-review journal. A 54-hour Certificate of Participation is awarded upon evidence of submitting the manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal.

FEEDBACK RECEIVED
“It helped me to write a complete manuscript and revise it at the same time; the timeline and deadlines greatly contributed to this.” “This experience helped gain experience in manuscript development and revision. The textbook for the course also was a useful reference.” “…I liked the fact that we were able to meet and discuss our revisions and share experiences. Great way to network and learn over distinct research topics.”
