We are currently seeking a highly qualified Epidemiologist to join the BERD Core team. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree (MS) in Epidemiology and possess excellent analytical programming skills and modeling experience using STATA (preferred), R, SPSS, and/or SAS programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting researchers in various aspects of their projects, including study design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and providing educational materials on biostatistics, epidemiology, and research design.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree (MS) in Epidemiology
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent analytical programming skills and modeling experience using STATA (preferred), R, SPSS, and/or SAS
- Ability to accurately input data, run statistical analysis, and interpret findings from STATA (preferred), R, SPSS, and/or SAS
- Experience creating data collection forms (study questionnaires) and databases in different software and/or applications, such as Excel, REDCap, Access, Epi-Info.
- Proven skills in research design and methodology
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects to ensure their quality and on-time delivery.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks
- Attendance/Punctuality-‐consistently being at work and on time
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Strong communication and writing
- Fully bilingual – Must speak, read, and write fluent English and Spanish
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Meet with researchers to discuss projects and determine what would be needed to complete the request of service.
- Revise the approach section of proposals to be submitted to NIH or IRB and modify according to researchers’ needs (e.g., add sample size/statistical power section or randomization techniques).
- Assist researchers in the creation of their study databases and/or questionnaires.
- Review the Alliance pilot project proposal submissions, Scientific Day abstracts, and Alliance/HiREC Small Grant proposals.
- Assist the BERD leader in completing the Alliance yearly progress report and presentation at the Alliance Retreat for the BERD Core.
- Run the analysis and interpret the findings. Create graphs and/or results tables to present results to the researcher.
- Revise the methods and results sections of the manuscript and/or abstract to be submitted.
- Create new macros or programs to help the researchers run their own statistical analyses.
- Create educational materials on biostatistics, epidemiology, or research design for the community (academic and non-academic).
