ISCORE-RC Metrics
Why is this information important?
Collecting metrics through ISCORE-RC provides a clear picture of the clinical research landscape in Puerto Rico. These data reflect not only the number of active and newly activated studies, but also critical aspects such as the average time to execute contracts, IRB approval processes, and participant recruitment and retention rates.
With this information, we can identify emerging trends, new research opportunities, and areas where we need to optimize resources such as clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, and clinical coordination staff.
What information will be collected?
Participating centers will be asked to complete a standardized form that captures:
- Number of active clinical studies
- Average timelines
- Recruitment targets and performance
- Sponsors and funding sources
- Demographic data of participants
- Systems and reporting capacity
Benefits and Opportunities
Centralized data provide a strategic advantage for clinical research in Puerto Rico by offering greater visibility to sponsors and agencies, identifying barriers with actionable solutions, and promoting equity through demographic representation. In addition, these metrics help attract new clinical trial opportunities by demonstrating efficiency and research capacity. Every center that contributes strengthens the ISCORE-RC network and collectively builds a comprehensive map of clinical research in Puerto Rico, a resource that is vital for advancing science and improving public health.
