San Juan Bautista School of Medicine proudly marks the 10-year anniversary of the Puerto Rico Health Justice Center, a transdisciplinary program dedicated to trauma-informed, victim-centered clinical forensic services for survivors of sexual violence and for advancing research that recognizes violence as a critical public health issue. Over the past decade, the Center has strengthened evidence-based practice, informed public policy, and expanded community-engaged research to improve health outcomes.
Its research division has mentored graduate students whose work explores the biopsychosocial impact of violence and contributes to scientific dialogue in multiple academic forums. Dr. Linda Pérez and Dr. Yaritza Inostroza, in collaboration with Dr. Linda Laras, received a pilot award from The Alliance for Clinical and Translational Research, underscoring the rigor, innovation, and translational impact of their work. These achievements reflect the Center’s commitment to developing future leaders and advancing systemic change that promotes survivor wellbeing.
