With immense pride and pleasure, we announce that Dr. Linda Laras, a distinguished faculty member at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine and Director of the Puerto Rico Health Justice Center, has been honored with the prestigious David Chadwick Outstanding Professional Award by the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC). This award, presented during the 31st APSAC Colloquium, recognizes Dr. Laras’s exceptional contributions to child sexual abuse prevention and management.
Dr. Laras is currently one of the funded investigators of an Alliance Pilot Project together with the PIs, Dr. Yaritza Inostroza and Dr. Linda Perez- Laras titled: “Endothelin-1 as a biomarker for cardiovascular risk in sexually abused children.”
Dr. Laras’s dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to advancing the understanding and addressing the challenges of sexual violence have significantly impacted our community and the broader field. Her innovative research, compassionate clinical practice, and relentless advocacy work have set a benchmark for excellence and compassion in child sexual abuse.
