Dr. Yaritza InostrozaPresentation title:

Endothelin-1 as a Biomarker for Cardiovascular Risk in Sexually Abused Children

Dr. Yaritza Inostroza-Nieves is the Research Center Co-Director and an Associate Professor at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine (SJBSM). She holds a PhD in Biochemistry from University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus and a BS in Industrial Chemistry from University of Puerto Rico at Humacao, and completed her postdoctoral training in inflammation pathways in cardiovascular diseases in Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where she gained extensive expertise in molecular signaling, cardiovascular risk, and therapeutic development. Dr. Inostroza-Nieves has led research projects examining the effects of obesogenic diets, chronic psychological stress, and inflammation on the development of cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. She is currently investigating the role of endothelin-1 (ET-1) as a biomarker for cardiovascular risk in children and exploring ET-1 gene polymorphisms in cardiovascular disease using the All of Us Research Program. In addition to her research accomplishments, Dr. Inostroza-Nieves is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of scientists, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. She continues to inspire young researchers through her work, leadership, and dedication to health equity and community-based science.
