Advancing Health through Implementation Science: The Blood Pressure Control Trial.

Dr. Milagros C. Rosal is the Inaugural Vice Provost for Health Equity and the Imoigele P. Aisiku, MD Chair in Health Equity and Diversity at the UMass Chan Medical School, and a tenured professor in the Department of Population & Quantitative Health Sciences and the Department of Medicine at UMass Chan. A behavioral scientist with a background in clinical psychology and behavioral medicine, Dr. Rosal leads a federally funded research program focused on community-based research, psychosocial and behavioral determinants of cardiovascular disease, and translation and implementation trials of evidence-based interventions. She is especially interested in methods that maximize the scientific rigor and impact of studies aimed at enhancing the health of populations with historically lower participation in research. Dr. Rosal has been the principal investigator (PI) or co-investigator of 40+ research studies, most federally funded, including two federally funded center programs. Dr. Rosal is currently Multiple Principal Investigator of the PR-OUTLOOK study in Puerto Rico, and co-director of the Prevention Research Center at UMass Chan. She is a fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine and is an elected member of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research for her contributions to the field of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine. Dr. Rosal’s research has had local, national and international recognition. She has over 220 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Rosal has more than two decades of mentoring and service activities with faculty and learners with a particular focus on individuals with research careers in population health, both locally and nationally.
